family home evening delights

all of a sudden it seems that our little family home evenings have much more meaning...both little girls FOLD THEIR ARMS (!!), which makes mommy and daddy beyond happy. ms. ella participates in the discussion that is the lesson -- not talk about ted or her princess dresses -- but actual talk about current content. when the music starts, both girls are quiet and listen...ms. ella attempts to sing new words as well. pictures and illustrations definitely help keep their attention. sometimes we go for a full FIFTEEN MINUTES! ms. sophia still finds discussion a bit drab and uses it as bounce time on the couch -- but we are all in one place and we are all loving our time together. treats are always the best, and EVERY ONE is excited...especially when we serve those chocolate brownies!

“We call upon parents to devote their best efforts to the teaching and rearing of their children in gospel principles which will keep them close to the Church. The home is the basis of a righteous life, and no other instrumentality can take its place or fulfill its essential functions in carrying forward this God-given responsibility.

“We counsel parents and children to give highest priority to family prayer, family home evening, gospel study and instruction, and wholesome family activities.”
