dear ella and sophia,you have been big sisters to your little brother for 28 days now. the two of you have shown love and compassion for your little brother in ways that i never expected. mommy loves you more and more every single day as i see you grow and express concern for our newest family member. i want you to know of the sweet things that you say and do, especially during these changing times. the two of you have adapted so well. leif is beyond lucky...he has three mommies to care for him and help meet his young-baby needs.
sophia, when leif cries, you sadly say, "baby cry. baby cry." then you motor across the room to find a blankie and binkie to assist the sad little babe. usually you pat his head or rub his tummy to help him feel better. i love to see you lean over and give leif a kiss smack on the lips. love it!
ella, every morning you ask me how the baby is doing. even though you sleep uninterrupted through the night, i think you can see that mommy is often tired and you show worry on your tender face. if i am changing leif's clothing, you help me pick out something to keep his body warm. you bring me diapers, lotion, socks, blankets, wipes, etc.. for the last few days you have reminded mommy and daddy that you love leif. i love the way you notice when he blows bubbles or coos or wiggles his little toes.
i love my days with both of you. i love when you bring me books to read while i feed little leif. i love when we curl up under a blanket and watch another episode of sesame street. i love when we sing primary songs and recite nursery rhymes together so happily. i love when we enjoy a bowl of popcorn and take turns holding leif while he sleeps. i love taking photos of you dancing, playing, and making faces. i am so happy to have my two big girls and my little baby boy.
