veteran's day.

dear dad,

i am thinking of you on this veteran's day. you should have this day off as a tribute to YOU, a u.s. veteran of two wars. a veteran who sacrificed your precious time to serve. a veteran who did what he was told, despite differences of opinion. a veteran who served in wars that were 30 years apart. a veteran who served many years in the national guard. a veteran who is now retired from the military and proud of it.

your time served in 2003-2004 seems like yesterday; a blur in a lot of ways, because it was unbelievable. i will always treasure the letters and the emails that we were able to share while you were over there. we missed you every day you were away. when you walked off that plane in salt lake, it was a day of joy and relief. we were fearful of what could happen, but grateful for what didn't happen.

i am humbled by your service and proud of your accomplishments.

love and respect to you dad.
