mother of three.

i'm a mother of three. in this reflective moment, i never dreamed this would have happened. five years ago...just five years ago...i believed my calling was that of a professional woman, attempting to serve others, but never children of my own. never say never. this blessing of motherhood has strengthened my soul...all the way down to my toes. as i lay down to rest each night i feel exhaustion and happiness like i have never felt before. today i opened a mother's day card to me. it brought tears to my eyes. my mom called me an "exceptional" mother. i don't feel exceptional most days. but those words mean so much as i try to do my best. in all of the craziness happening in the past twenty-four hours i know of a mother who lost her adult son; i know of a new mother, about to embark on this journey of love. to these two women, this mother's day weekend takes on a new meaning. treasure your time.
