here's a little story, sure to amuse: labor day 2009...
you may remember it was a WINDY morning and a little on the cool side. living so close to the columbia river, it is a crime not to spend time ON the river. forget the power boat (says daddy), all we need is our red canoe for gool ol' coleman family fun. picture this: mommy, daddy, ella, sophia, and leif in life jackets; leif crying because he cries; daddy stating the rules while the two little girls listen and smile; many snacks and drinks to satisfy the little ones; daddy rowing while mommy attempts to calm leif-y; daddy getting a little frustrated because the wind picks up and the boat will not cooperate; FOUR encounters with very large sea vessels --- of the yacht-ish kind; ella talking NON-STOP for the entire voyage; sophia rocking the boat because she thinks it's kinda funny; leif sleeping and then waking up because ella is still talking; sophia rocking the boat somemore and then leaning over to touch the bubbles in the water; more wind and "fun" big waves; finding calm water near the boat ramp; heading out for more windy river for the trip home; having a few "close calls" because of the above mentioned items.
but the sun was shining the whole time, we stayed afloat, and the girls remember this as a happy memory. when do we go again?
