real tragedy.

my concerns and hardships at this time pale in comparison to the sadness and loss that has occurred in haiti. the earthquake devastated an already poverty-stricken country. 12 january 2010. the many children orphaned and the many families mourning. my little world of children, a stand-alone home, abundant food and water, warmth and bedding, safety. for this day and many more i will pray and hope for miracles. "an epic disaster without question." this is when we remember what is most important. no pleasure in looking for new things this day. adding to my full closets or buckets of toys. it's not intriguing to think about how i can do more for me or learn new hobbies this day. all that i want to do is revel in the blessings i have before me. remember that while i waste time on this computer or some other silly electronic gadget, there are real people struggling with physical pain, deep emotions, fear of more to come, and hoping for food, water, and shelter. sometimes i feel ashamed to have all that i do and still want more. but right now, i want more - this time not for me, but for those who have nothing.
